Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced accounting professional to manage the general ledger functions, assist in the preparation of financial statements, ensure timely tax return filing, and support job costing and banking activities. The ideal candidate should possess sound accounting knowledge, demonstrate the ability to work independently under pressure, and have practical experience with accounting software such as Tally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining the general ledger and ensuring timely and accurate journal entries
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Preparing and filing statutory tax returns (VAT, NBT, PAYE, Income Tax, etc.)
- Performing job costing and cost allocation for various projects or departments
- Liaising with banks for daily operations, reconciliations, and documentation
- Supporting internal and external audits
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies
Qualifications:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and/or part qualification from a recognized professional accounting body (e.g., CA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Minimum 5 years of overall experience in an accounts department, with at least 2 years in a similar role
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet tight deadlines
- Proficiency in accounting software; experience in Tally is an added advantage
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational abilities
- Good communication skills and a proactive attitude
