Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Role Profile

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will provide strategic financial leadership, ensure regulatory compliance, drive business performance, and support the Company's long-term growth and value creation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the Company’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and market conditions.
  • Lead all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), the Sri Lanka Accounting Standards (SLFRS/LKAS), Sri Lanka Public Sector Accounting Standards (SLPSAS) and all applicable statutory regulations.
  • Drive process improvements, financial digitization, automation, and operational efficiencies across the finance function.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor financial performance and initiate corrective actions to ensure financial stability, capital adequacy, and profitability.
  • Oversee timely and accurate preparation of all internal management reports for the board and Corporate Management.
  • Provide leadership for all regulatory reporting in accordance with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) regulations, directions, guidelines and audit processes.
  • Oversee implementation of systems, processes, and governance structures that ensure compliance, asset protection and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with internal Audit, Risk Management and Compliance to reinforce strong financial discipline.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the Business Intelligence / Analytics Unit, enabling data-driven decision making.
  • Champion advanced analytics, data governance, and insights that enhance operational efficiency, risk management, and business growth.
  • Ensure financial discipline through effective monitoring of expenditures, variance analysis, and resource allocation.

Candidate Profile

  • The ideal candidate should be between 55 and 65 years of age and will be appointed on a two (2) years fixed term contract on renewable basis.
  • Full membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) or an internationally recognized professional accounting body (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent).
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration from a recognized university.
  • A Master's Degree or MBA will be a distinct advantage.
  • A minimum of 18 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 10 years in a senior management role, preferably within the Financial Services sector.
  • Thorough knowledge of CBSL regulations, Finance Business Act, prudential requirements, SLFRS/LKAS, taxation, treasury management, and corporate finance.
  • Proven experience in financial planning and analysis, capital management, budgeting, business strategy, and regulatory reporting.
  • Strong analytical, commercial, and strategic decision-making capabilities.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
  • High standards of integrity, professionalism, and corporate governance.
