AUTOMOBILE HEAD MECHANIC
Requirements:
- Diploma, NVQ Level 5/6, or equivalent qualification in Automobile Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automobile repair and maintenance, including 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of petrol, diesel, and heavy vehicle mechanical systems.
- Experience in diagnosing engine, transmission, brake, suspension, steering, and electrical system faults.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and service documentation.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and team management skills.
- Good communication and organizational abilities.
- Strong knowledge of Tata and Hino diesel engines, transmission systems, brake systems, suspension, and electrical systems.
- Valid driving licence (Light Vehicle; Heavy Vehicle licence will be an added advantage).
- Applicants residing in or around Kalutara will be given preference.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead the vehicle maintenance and repair team.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults in company vehicles.
- Plan and oversee preventive maintenance and repair schedules to ensure maximum fleet availability.
- Allocate work among mechanics and monitor repair quality and productivity.
- Inspect completed repairs to ensure they meet company and safety standards.
- Maintain service records, repair histories, and maintenance reports.
- Monitor spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement requirements.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures and proper workshop housekeeping.
- Provide technical guidance and training to mechanics and apprentices.
- Minimize vehicle downtime by ensuring timely and cost-effective repairs.
