Design and Estimation Engineer - Civil

The Design and Estimation Engineer – Civil will be responsible for civil and structural design, quantity estimation, BOQ preparation, cost analysis, and coordination with project execution teams. The role requires strong technical knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methodologies, geotechnical fundamentals, quantity surveying, BIM-based quantity take-off, rate analysis, productivity calculations, and applicable engineering standards and codes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Apply sound knowledge of civil and structural design principles to ensure technically appropriate and practical solutions.
  • Review construction requirements based on construction methodologies, sequencing, and site execution practices.
  • Apply knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering fundamentals in relation to foundations, excavation, earthworks, retaining structures, and other civil works.
  • Guide and provide technical support to the QS team in carrying out accurate quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, and BIM models.
  • Guide the QS team in the preparation and review of Bills of Quantities (BOQs) in accordance with applicable measurement standards and project specifications.
  • Conduct and review rate analyses for civil and structural works, including materials, labour, plant and equipment, subcontractor costs, wastage, and other relevant cost components.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, specifications, and codes of practice.
  • Prepare and communicate technical information, assumptions, estimates, and recommendations clearly to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in reviewing variations, additional works, scope changes, and associated quantity and cost implications.
  • Support tendering, budgeting, procurement, and project cost-control activities as required.

Candidate Profile

  • BSc in Civil Engineering from a recognised university.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in civil engineering, design, estimation, and construction-related activities.
  • Proven experience in civil and structural design and estimation.
  • Practical experience in quantity take-off from engineering drawings and BIM models.
