WE ARE LOOKING FOR A FINANCE MANAGER

Energy Sector | Colombo

Samson Solar Power, a proud member of the DSI Samson Group, is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Finance Manager to lead the finance function of our established and growing renewable energy business.

Our portfolio includes solar and hydro power, with plans to expand our existing portfolio and explore investments in new renewable energy sectors and technologies.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director / Director, this is a senior role requiring a professional who can combine strong financial management and accounting capabilities with project finance, investment evaluation, commercial analysis and project cost management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Finance, Accounting & Performance Management
    • Lead the finance and accounting function.
    • Prepare and review management accounts, budgets, forecasts and cash-flow projections.
    • Monitor financial performance of the power portfolio.
    • Ensure financial controls, statutory compliance, taxation and audit.
    • Provide financial and commercial analysis to the Board and senior management.
  • Project Evaluation & Investment Analysis
    • Lead feasibility and financial evaluation of new energy projects.
    • Develop financial models (IRR, NPV, payback, DCF, sensitivity, scenarios).
    • Assess returns, funding structures, debt servicing and long-term cash flows.
    • Evaluate acquisition, expansion and disposal opportunities.
    • Present recommendations and key risks to senior management and the Board.
  • Technical-to-Financial Analysis
    • Work with engineering, operations and project teams.
    • Translate technical information into financial assumptions, risks and costs.
    • Analyze generation forecasts, plant performance, tariffs, equipment selection, project life and operating costs.
    • Develop a strong commercial understanding of renewable energy technologies.
  • Project Cost Management
    • Establish and monitor project budgets and cost controls.
    • Track actual vs. budget and identify cost overruns early.
    • Work with engineering, procurement and project teams.
    • Provide analysis of project cost, cash requirements and returns.
  • Funding & Financial Structuring
    • Support debt and equity financing.
    • Liaise with banks and financial institutions.
    • Monitor debt obligations, financing costs and covenants.
  • Stakeholder & Institutional Relations
    • Build strong relationships with government, regulators, banks, auditors, consultants and partners.
    • Represent the finance function in commercial and institutional discussions.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Degree or professional qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualification (CA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) will be highly advantageous.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including senior-level responsibility.
  • Proven ability to lead a finance function and work directly with Directors and senior management.
  • Strong project finance, investment appraisal and financial modelling skills.
  • Experience in renewable energy, power, infrastructure, construction, engineering or a capital-intensive industry would be a distinct advantage.
  • Strong understanding of project budgeting, cost management and capital expenditure control.
  • Excellent analytical ability and commercial judgement.
  • Ability to understand technical concepts and communicate across financial, engineering, operational and commercial teams.
  • Strong leadership presence and the ability to manage internal and external stakeholders.

Location: Colombo

Travel: Regular travel to operational power plants and project locations will be required.
