Head of Manufacturing Excellence

PGP Glass Ceylon PLC is a global leader in premium glass packaging and the largest specialty glass manufacturer in Asia. We operate state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Sri Lanka and India, with marketing offices across Brazil and France. Listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange, our Sri Lankan operations are based in Horana, Nattandiya, and Ratmalana, employing a workforce of over 500 employees.
We are looking for an experienced, performance-oriented individual to fill a vacant position at our Sri Lankan operation, based in Horana. Candidates who reside in or are willing to travel to Horana are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to applicants living in close proximity to Horana.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronic, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Six Sigma Black Belt / Lean certification from a recognized professional body.
Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role within a manufacturing organization.
- Proven ability to lead Lean, Six Sigma (DMAIC), and focused improvement projects from business case through to implementation and sustenance.
- Strong knowledge of statistical data analysis, process mapping, root cause analysis, and industrial engineering techniques such as work study and line balancing.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in MS Office and SAP S/4HANA.
- Experience in glass or continuous-process manufacturing, automation, and data analytics tools (Power BI, Python, R) will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Manufacturing Excellence function, driving continuous improvement across manufacturing and support functions.
- Study existing processes, identify improvement opportunities, and eliminate non-value-added activities.
- Initiate and drive multiple DMAIC and focused improvement projects through cross-functional teams to achieve annual cost-saving targets.
- Improve manpower productivity through work study, time and motion study, and line balancing.
- Identify and deliver automation and robotics projects that enhance safety and productivity.
- Liaise with the CEO, top management, and the Corporate Manufacturing Excellence team to align activities across Sri Lanka and India with corporate objectives and ESG targets.
- Sustain a culture of continuous improvement through daily meetings, monthly audits, and shop-floor team engagement.
- Build team capability through training and coaching on Lean, Six Sigma, and data analytics.
- Conduct benchmarking studies and work with external consultants on company-wide transformation projects, reporting progress and benefits to management.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, ISO standards, and company policies.
