Senior Systems Engineer (MSP)
Sri Lanka | Remote
ParagonIT is an Australian-owned IT services company delivering managed IT, cloud, cybersecurity and automation solutions. We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer based in Sri Lanka to support our Australian clients, manage cybersecurity solutions daily and deliver infrastructure and cloud projects.
This role suits someone with strong technical skills, hands-on cybersecurity experience, excellent English communication and a proactive approach to keeping client environments secure and reliable.
Your responsibilities
- Deliver senior-level remote support across Microsoft 365, Windows Server, cloud, networking and endpoint environments.
- Take ownership of escalated technical issues, from investigation through to resolution.
- Administer Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID and Intune.
- Manage Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and virtualisation platforms.
- Configure and troubleshoot firewalls, VPNs, switches and wireless networks.
- Perform daily management of cybersecurity solutions, including endpoint protection, EDR/MDR platforms, email security, Microsoft 365 security, application control and device management.
- Review security dashboards and alerts, investigate suspicious activity and coordinate incident response with SOC/MDR providers.
- Maintain security policies, MFA, Conditional Access, access permissions and security baselines.
- Monitor security agent health, investigate protection gaps and ensure devices remain covered and up to date.
- Manage patching, vulnerability remediation, backups and recovery checks.
- Support cybersecurity assessments and implement agreed security improvements.
- Deliver migrations, infrastructure upgrades and cloud projects.
- Communicate clearly with clients by phone, email and remote support sessions.
- Maintain accurate tickets, technical documentation and security reports.
- Identify opportunities for automation and mentor junior engineers.
What we are looking for
- At least 5 years of relevant systems engineering or IT infrastructure support experience, preferably within an MSP.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory and networking.
- Experience with Azure, Entra ID, Intune and Microsoft 365 security controls.
- Practical experience administering cybersecurity solutions and performing daily security monitoring, maintenance and remediation.
- An understanding of endpoint security, email threats, identity protection, vulnerability management and incident response.
- Working knowledge of virtualisation, backup and recovery, and remote monitoring tools.
- Confident troubleshooting skills and the ability to manage competing priorities independently.
- Excellent spoken and written English, with a professional, customer-focused approach.
- Availability to work during Australian business hours.
- Reliable internet connectivity and a suitable remote working environment in Sri Lanka.
- Experience with SentinelOne, Microsoft Defender, Trend Micro, ThreatLocker, NinjaOne, Veeam, Acronis, Nutanix, Hyper-V, PowerShell, Fortinet or Palo Alto would be an advantage.
- Familiarity with Essential Eight and relevant Microsoft, networking or cybersecurity certifications are also valued.
