ENGINEER - QUALITY ASSURANCE AND QUALITY CONTROL
LOCATION - PUTTALAM
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and maintain the factory's Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements and applicable industry standards.
- Inspect incoming raw materials and components to ensure compliance with approved specifications, engineering drawings and quality standards.
- Conduct in-process and final inspections to ensure products meet required dimensional, visual, welding, surface treatment, coating and functional specifications.
- Coordinate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and third-party inspections where necessary.
- Identify and document non-conformities, conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain calibration schedules and ensure the accuracy and reliability of inspection and measuring equipment.
- Maintain quality inspection records, test reports and documentation to ensure product traceability.
- Conduct internal quality audits and coordinate customer, third-party and certification audits.
- Monitor quality performance indicators and prepare periodic quality reports for management.
- Investigate customer complaints and implement appropriate corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to minimise defects, rework, wastage and production costs.
- Provide guidance and training to production employees on quality standards, inspection procedures and good manufacturing practices.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing / Materials) or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
- Minimum 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control within a manufacturing, engineering or fabrication environment.
- Good knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems and QA/QC principles.
- Sound knowledge of engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances and manufacturing processes, including machining, welding and fabrication.
- Knowledge of inspection methods, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques and precision measuring instruments.
- Familiarity with quality management tools, including Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, SPC and the 7 QC Tools.
- Experience in quality documentation, internal audits and corrective and preventive action processes.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with ERP or quality management software.
- ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification will be an added advantage.
- Associate Membership of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) will be an added advantage.
