Project Background

SAFE Foundation is a non-profit organization registered under the Voluntary Social Services Act as a National NGO, working with marginalized and vulnerable communities and children for more than 19 years. The project – “Together We Rise (TWR)” has been implemented by SAFE Foundation for three years. The project focuses on strengthening the capacity, participation, and sustainability of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and community-based organizations. The project works with CSO partners in Kurunegala, Puttalam, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts.

The TWR Project aims to strengthen CSOs as effective actors in development and governance by improving their organizational systems, leadership, management capacity, community engagement, and sustainability. The organizational capacity-building component focuses on six key pillars: 1. Governance and Leadership 2. Financial Management and Compliance 3. Inclusion, Safeguarding, and Gender Equality 4. Civic Engagement and Advocacy 5. Digital Capacity and Innovation 6. Resilience and Sustainability.

As part of the project, SAFE Foundation intends to engage an experienced consultants for Capacity Development to facilitate capacity development activities of CSOs, such as reviewing their organizational performance and progress, identifying key capacity gaps, and introducing the CSO Organizational Assessment Tools.

Position: Resource Person – TOT Training Program

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop a participatory and practical TOT training program and session plan.
2. Facilitate the TOT program using adult-learning and participatory training methodologies.
3. Introduce appropriate training and facilitation techniques.
4. Strengthen participants' presentation, facilitation, communication, and team-management skills.
5. Provide practical guidance on organizational capacity-building approaches.
6. Support participants to understand and apply relevant CSO organizational assessment and capacity-building tools.
7. Facilitate practical exercises, group work, presentations, and peer-learning activities.
8. Provide constructive feedback to participants on their facilitation practice.
9. Prepare and provide relevant training materials, presentations, handouts, and exercises.
10. Conduct a pre- and post-training assessment, where appropriate.
11. Submit a training report highlighting the key outcomes, participant feedback, lessons learned, and recommendations.

Expected Deliverables:

1. Development of TOT training programme/session plan
2. Training tools and materials.
3. Facilitation of the agreed TOT programme.
4. Practical exercises and assessment activities.
5. Participant feedback and/or evaluation summary.
6. Final training report with key observations and recommendations.

Qualifications:

1. A university degree or equivalent professional qualification in Training, Organizational Capacity Development, Capacity Building, Management, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
2. Demonstrated experience in conducting Training of Trainers (ToT) programs.
3. Experience working with NGOs/CSOs and development-sector organizations.
4. Excellent knowledge of adult-learning and participatory training methodologies.
5. Strong communication, facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
6. Experience in developing training materials and practical learning activities.
7. Knowledge of gender equality, inclusion, safeguarding, and organizational sustainability will be an added advantage.
