POSITION DETAILS
- POSITION TITLE: Chief Mechanic
- REPORTING TO: General Manager - Manufacturing
- DEPARTMENT: Engineering & Maintenance
- JOB LOCATION: Narammala
POSITION PURPOSE
The position is responsible for ensuring plant machinery and other engineering related facilities are available on time and in good condition to eliminate production / business disruption.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct routine servicing and preventive maintenance of machinery and equipment used in garment manufacturing to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Attending to downtime issues immediately and prevent from recurring to minimize downtime
- Coordinate the rental of machinery and equipment as required to meet production demands, including negotiating agreements and managing timely delivery and return.
- Manage the overall plant facility, overseeing maintenance, repairs, and improvements to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- Monitor utilities consumption and implement measures to optimize usage, reduce costs, and maintain sustainable operations.
- Implement waste management practices to minimize production waste and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations by conducting regular inspections, identifying hazards, and implementing corrective actions.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on plant facilities, including HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical systems, to ensure reliability and functionality.
- Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance and repair services, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion of tasks.
- Respond promptly to maintenance and repair requests from production teams, troubleshooting issues, and implementing effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment servicing schedules, repairs, and expenditures for reporting and budgeting purposes.
- Any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the management deemed necessary for the effective functioning of the department or organization.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma / Degree in engineering or any other related field.
- Minimum 1-2 years previous experience in related field
Skills and Attributes
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices related to plant operations and maintenance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to identify, diagnose, and resolve mechanical, electrical, and operational issues within the plant.
- Ability to plan, execute, and manage engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with team members, management, and external contractors.
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- High level of attention to detail to ensure precision in engineering designs, maintenance plans, and safety protocols.
