VACANCY - REGIONAL LEGAL OFFICER

Seeking a proactive and experienced Attorney-at-law to handle legal and recovery matters in the Galle region.

Key Responsibilities
- Attend courts and other Forums to protect the interests of the company, particularly in relation to the recovery of loans in default.
- Initiate and coordinate timely legal action in consultation with the Head Office Legal Department where required.
- Draft legal documents and institute and defend legal actions.
- Prepare and review title reports and execution of bonds and other legal instruments.
- Provide legal opinions and advise on matters arising within the Region.
- Negotiate settlements with defaulters/Litigants while safeguarding the interests of the Company.
- Maintain accurate and up to date legal records, case files and related documentation.
- Handle matters related to Land Registries and other relevant government institutions.
- Prepare and review Title Reports, Mortgage Bonds and other legal documents.
- Coordinate with Branches, Recovery Officers, external Attorney-at-Law, and other relevant stakeholders on legal and recovery matters.
Qualifications & Experience
- Attorney-at-law with minimum of 5 years’ experience in Court work and notarial work.
- Practical experience in recovery litigation, banking, finance, or a financial institution will be a distinct advantage.
- Sound knowledge and practical experience in handling conveyancing matters, title reports, Mortgage Bonds and Security documents.
- Computer literacy and ability to work effectively in a computerized office environment.
- Proficiency in Sinhala & English, both oral and written.
- Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
