Waters Edge, a benchmark of Sri Lankan hospitality, is seeking a responsible, detail-oriented, and analytical Night Auditor to oversee overnight financial reconciliation and front office operations. The role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of daily financial transactions, conducting end-of-day audits, reconciling departmental revenues, monitoring guest accounts, preparing financial and operational reports, and supporting front desk operations during night shifts. Night Auditor
Responsibilities
- Oversee overnight financial reconciliation and front office operations while ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of all daily financial transactions and guest account activities.
- Conduct end-of-day auditing procedures, including balancing and consolidating departmental revenues from Front Office, Food and Beverage, and other revenue-generating departments.
- Review guest ledgers, verify postings, monitor credit limits, and identify and resolve discrepancies or posting errors prior to the start of the next business day.
- Manage front desk operations during the night shift, including handling late check-ins, early check outs, guest inquiries, requests, and emergency situations in a professional manner.
- Prepare and distribute daily operational and financial reports such as occupancy reports, revenue summaries, and variance reports for management review.
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance with internal control procedures while maintaining accuracy and integrity in all financial reporting activities.
- Maintain safety and security of the property during night operations through regular walkthroughs and monitoring of hotel activities to ensure a secure environment for guests and staff.
- Coordinate with relevant departments to support operational continuity and ensure smooth execution of overnight hotel operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- G.C.E. Advanced Level qualifications or an equivalent educational qualification recognized by relevant authorities.
- Progress in a recognized professional accounting qualification such as AAT, CA Sri Lanka (ICASL), or an equivalent professional body will be considered an added advantage.
- Sound knowledge of accounting procedures, revenue reconciliation processes, front office operations, and hospitality operational systems.
- Strong proficiency in Property Management Systems (PMS), Point of Sale (POS) systems, and Microsoft Excel, with basic knowledge of financial reporting and internal control procedures.
- Previous experience in a front office, accounting, or auditing role within the hospitality industry, with prior exposure to night auditing or hotel revenue reconciliation considered highly advantageous.
- Strong numerical accuracy, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle guest concerns, operational issues, and emergency situations effectively.
- Ability to work independently during overnight shifts while maintaining efficiency, professionalism, confidentiality, and a customer-focused approach under strict operational deadlines.
