VACANCY – EXTENSION OFFICER
Wewelkandura Tea Factory – Hansagiri Group
Hansagiri Group is seeking a dedicated and energetic Extension Officer to join our team at Wewelkandura Tea Factory.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining good relationships with tea smallholders, monitoring tea cultivation activities, and supporting the factory's green-leaf supply requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with tea smallholders and green-leaf suppliers.
- Promote and increase the supply of quality green leaf to the factory.
- Monitor the quality of green leaf supplied to the factory and take necessary corrective actions.
- Conduct regular field visits and identify issues affecting tea production and leaf quality.
- Knowledge sharing on tea fertilizer application, plucking standards, field maintenance, and good agricultural practices.
- Guide the field staff team achieving monthly green-leaf collection targets.
- Attract the new green-leaf suppliers and maintain existing supplier relationships.
- Monitor competitor activities and market conditions
- Prepare regular reports on green-leaf collection, supplier performance, field visits, and related activities.
- Coordinate with the Factory Manager and management to improve green-leaf collection and quality.
- Ability of vehicle fleet management and maintenance will be an added advantage.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in tea cultivation, green-leaf collection, or tea factory operation.
- Good knowledge of tea cultivation and smallholder management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and conduct regular field visits.
- Target-oriented and capable of building strong relationships with tea suppliers.
- Valid driving licence
- Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Plantation Management, Tea Technology, or a related field will be an added advantage.
