EYE UNIT - INCHARGE

HEALTHCARE SECTOR

The Eye Unit- In charge is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the Eye unit by coordinating patient services, assisting clinical and administrative teams, and ensuring a smooth, patient-focused experience in line with Ninewells Hospital standards.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma or Degree in Healthcare Administration, Hospital Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in a hospital, clinic coordination, or healthcare administrative role.
  • Experience in an eye clinic or specialty clinic will be a distinct advantage.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and hospital information systems.
  • A patient-focused, professional, and proactive approach.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Eye Unit In-Charge should be accountable for the complete operational performance of the Eye Unit.
  • Coordinate with consultants regarding patient queues, special requirements, and changes to schedules.
  • Ensure smooth patient flow from registration through consultation, investigations, treatment, and discharge.
  • Ensure patients receive clear information regarding appointments, procedures, investigations, and follow-up.
  • Handle patient concerns and coordinate timely resolution of complaints.
  • Maintain a high standard of patient experience and satisfaction.
  • Coordinate daily clinic and theatre schedules with ophthalmologists.
  • Ensure consultation rooms and procedure areas are ready before sessions.
  • Prepare and manage staff duty rosters according to operational requirements.
  • Conduct staff briefings and ensure effective communication within the unit.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate relevant training programs.
  • Ensure all ophthalmic equipment is available and functioning properly.
  • Monitor stock levels of ophthalmic consumables, drugs, implants, and non-medical items.
