QUANTITY SURVEYOR (CIVIL & MEP)
Job Overview:
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the financial, contractual, and commercial aspects of construction projects from the pre-tender stage through to project completion. The role involves preparing accurate cost estimates, managing tender processes, monitoring project costs, administering contracts, and ensuring projects are delivered within approved budgets while achieving cost efficiency and profitability.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the tendering process by preparing tender packages, completing tender documentation, and evaluating contractor bids.
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) by accurately measuring and quantifying materials and work requirements based on architectural and engineering drawings.
- Prepare cost estimates, project budgets, and cost plans covering materials, labour, and other project expenses.
- Assess completed works on-site and prepare valuations for subcontractor and supplier payments.
- Monitor project costs against approved budgets and prepare cost reports reflecting project income, expenditure, and financial performance.
- Evaluate, negotiate, and manage cost implications arising from design changes, variations, and scope adjustments.
- Prepare and finalize project accounts, ensuring accurate financial settlements with clients, investors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Maintain proper documentation relating to contracts, cost reports, variations, and financial records.
- Liaise with project managers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure effective commercial management of projects.
Candidate Profile:
- HNDE, NCT, Technical College qualification, or an equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying.
- Minimum of 8–10 years of practical experience in Quantity Surveying, with a strong background in Civil and MEP projects, including cost estimation, BOQ preparation, tender management, and cost control.
- Sound knowledge of construction technologies, construction contracts, and procurement processes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Google Workspace.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.
