POST OF ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER (LEGAL) SPECIAL GRADE

The Bank invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the positions of Assistant General Manager-Legal-Special Grade.
THE PERSON
- An Attorney at Law and Notary Public
- A Master’s Degree in a Law from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka.
- A minimum of 15 years post qualifying experience including at least five years in a managerial capacity at a financial institution regulated by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
- Experience in litigation management, debt recovery, enforcement of securities, and legal documentation relating to banking operations.
- Sound knowledge of banking and financial laws, corporate and commercial law, litigation management, contractual matters, regulatory compliance, and legal risk management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage legal assignments, supervise legal staff, coordinate with external legal counsel, and provide timely and effective legal advice.
- Should be a Sri Lankan Citizen
THE JOB
- Manage the Bank’s legal affairs and provide legal advice on banking operations, contracts, and other legal matters.
- Review legal documents and oversee litigation, debt recovery, and enforcement of securities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and the Bank’s policies while identifying and mitigating legal risks.
- Coordinate with relevant departments, external legal counsel, courts, and regulatory authorities on legal matters.
- Supervise legal staff, monitor legal proceedings, and ensure timely resolution of legal issues.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
This position will be on permanent basis subject to a probationary period of one year.
REMUNERATION
An attractive monthly remuneration package exceeding Rs. 600,000/- will be offered to the selected candidates for the position of Assistant General Manager.
In addition, the package includes:
- A guaranteed annual bonus equivalent to two months’ gross salary.
- A performance-based bonus.
- A medical assistance scheme covering immediate family members.
- Housing and other staff loans at concessionary interest rates.
- A superannuation scheme with both Provident Fund and ETF benefits.
- A non-contributory pension scheme, with eligibility contingent upon a minimum of 10 years’ service in the Bank
- Reimbursement of professional membership fees
