Accountant
Key Responsibilities
- General Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Reconcile accounts, prepare journal entries, and maintain general ledger integrity.
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
- Assist with tax compliance, filings, and annual audit preparations.
- Local Banking & Cash Management
- Bank Operations: Handle daily local banking activities, including wire transfers, checks, cash deposits, electronic payments.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform timely reconciliations of all local bank accounts and petty cash accounts.
- Cash Flow Monitoring: Monitor daily cash balances and manage working capital to meet operational needs.
- Relationship Management: Act as the primary point of contact for local banks for account maintainance, credit facility renewals, and operational queries.
- Import Accounting & Trade Finance
- Import Documentation & Costs: Accurately record import transactions, landed costs (customs duties, freight, insurance, port charges, clearing fees), and track import inventory.
- Trade Finance Instruments: Process and manage Letters of Credit (LCs), Bank Guarantees (BGs), Telegraphic Transfers (TTs), and Bills for Collection with local banks.
- Foreign Exchange (FX): Track foreign currency transactions, manage exchange rate gain/loss calculations, and liaise with banks for favorable FX rates.
- Customs & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all import documentation complies with local customs regulations, central bank foreign exchange rules, and trade policies.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certification: CPA, ACCA, CMA, or local equivalent preferred.
- Experience: 3+ years of accounting experience, specifically including local bank operations and import/commercial accounting.
- Trade Knowledge: Solid understanding of import procedures, international commercial terms (Incoterms), customs duty calculations, and trade finance (LCs, TTs).
- Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with accounting ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, NetSuite, or Sage) and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
