Production & Support Technician
US customers · Colombo area · On-site · Full-time · Mon–Fri nights, 7:30 PM – 4:30 AM Sri Lanka time
Our 3D printers run day and night, and our customers are in the United States. We are hiring one more technician for our night team: keep the print farm producing, finish and pack our products, and answer American customers while they are online, with the owner online to help.
About us
Zephyr's Market is a US e-commerce brand that designs and sells 3D-printed products, such as mounts, adapters and tool organisers, through Amazon and our own online store. Our Colombo-area facility runs a farm of 32 Bambu Lab, Sovol, Creality and Qidi printers, managed through SimplyPrint. Our production team works on US hours, so the owner can work with them in real time.
About the role
You work nights in a team of three, with our Design & Production Lead on site and the owner online for your whole shift. Most of your night is on the farm floor: clearing finished prints, checking parts, keeping printers loaded and running, finishing and packing. Between those jobs, you answer customer messages from the US. Because you handle our products every night, your answers will be better than anyone's. A year from now, success looks like this: the farm loses very few hours to empty or failed printers, every carton ships with the right count, and customers get clear, friendly answers the same day.
What you’ll do
- Clear finished prints from the printers and mark each plate clear in SimplyPrint, so the next job starts.
- Check every part against our picture-based quality guide. If you're unsure, it's a fail.
- Load filament and restock printers, following our strict rules that keep duty-free production stock separate from restock.
- Finish parts (remove supports, clean edges, add hardware) and pack them for shipment to the US with exact counts and labels.
- Answer customer messages from Amazon and our online store in clear, friendly English, using our listings and order records. Refunds and replacements are always approved by the owner.
- Start each shift from SimplyPrint's print history, and write the night handover for the day team: printer repairs, low stock and open messages.
What we're looking for
Required
- At least 1 year in production, workshop, technical or 3D printing work. Part-time work and NVQ training count.
- Good written English. You will write to American customers every night, so we ask for a short writing task with your application (see below).
- Uses computers at work: email, web apps or spreadsheets.
- Able to work Monday to Friday nights, 7:30 PM – 4:30 AM Sri Lanka time, at our facility.
Nice to have
- 3D printing experience. A hobby counts.
- Customer service by email or chat, especially for customers in the US, UK or Australia.
- Quality control, packing or warehouse experience.
- Experience with Amazon Seller Central or Shopify.
Pay
- LKR 70,000 – 85,000 a month (gross), depending on experience.
- A night allowance of LKR 10,000 a month, and a paid ride home after every shift.
- EPF and ETF contributions, as the law requires.
Your hours
- Monday to Friday nights, 7:30 PM – 4:30 AM Sri Lanka time, with a one-hour meal break. That is the US working day.
- Saturdays and Sundays off.
- On-site at our facility in Wattala, LK.
- You report to our Design & Production Lead, and to the owner for customer questions.
