Research Associate, Solar Research Center
University of Peradeniya
Salary: Rs. 60,000.00 per month
Contract Type: The posts are full-time, available immediately, and are fixed term initially for 6 months.
We seek to recruit a highly motivated Research Associate with proven intellectual and technical ability to conduct independent research and development (R&D) activity on solar inverters. You should have a BSc Eng degree specialized in Electrical / Electrical & Electronic / Electrical and Telecommunication. The scope of Work:
- A. Development of a Commercially Viable Multi-Functional Inverter: Design, prototype, and validate a grid-tied inverter system capable of:
- Efficient and reliable power transfer from solar photovoltaic (PV) arrays to the grid.
- Providing essential grid support functionalities such as Black-start capability and STATCOM (Static Synchronous Compensator) operation.
- Demonstrating potential for commercial scalability and cost-effectiveness.
- B. Development of a Micro-inverter for Cd Solar Cells: Design, prototype, and evaluate a high-efficiency micro-inverter specifically tailored for the Cadmium (Cd) solar cells. This includes:
- Optimizing the micro-inverter for the unique electrical characteristics of the Cd solar cell.
- Investigating maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms suitable for individual module operation.
- Consider integration aspects and the potential for distributed energy generation.
