Overview of the role

The Assistant Manager - Credit plays a vital role in ensuring prudent credit assessment and risk mitigation while supporting business growth through timely and compliant credit approvals. The position involves evaluating credit proposals, performing financial and risk analysis, ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal credit policies, and maintaining a healthy credit portfolio.

What you will do

  • Review of all credit applications based on CBSL guidelines, Company Credit Policy and Procedures.
  • Review Credit Policy/Procedures and recommend revisions/changes to suit prevailing market conditions.
  • Enhance understanding of the credit knowledge base of the organization.
  • Effectively manage/evaluate active accounts to reduce early defaults and NPLs.
  • Engage and support the Senior Management on strategic planning, product development, policy and systems developments.

What equips you for the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Economics.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in credit operations within a financial institution.
  • Professional qualifications such as CIMA, ACCA, or banking diplomas are advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and financial assessment skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of credit risk management in the NBFI sector.
  • Working knowledge of CBSL guidelines.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and credit evaluation tools.
