The Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS) is a renowned economic research organisation that seeks to influence public policy through rigorous analysis and effective communication. Selected candidates will become part of a vibrant research environment, with opportunities to collaborate with local, regional, and international partners. Senior Researchers

Successful candidates will oversee a thematic area of policy research of their choosing, provide mentorship to junior staff, secure funding grants, disseminate research findings, and enhance national and global networks to influence policy-making that fosters economic development.

Qualifications/skills:

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • A PhD or an MPhil in economics, from a recognised institution.
  • A keen interest in policy engagement, with different stakeholders.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and mentor junior researchers.

The following skills will provide an advantage:

  • Previous experience in a research role, ideally in leading and managing research projects.
  • A consistent track record of publications with reputed publishers.

Research Assistants

Successful candidates will contribute to policy research, collaborating with a senior researcher on applied economic analysis and policy communication. (The current vacancy is for those interested in Human Resource Development, Public Finance, and Climate Change).

Qualifications/skills:

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • A degree in economics with first or upper-second-class degree from a recognised university.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills.
  • Ability to use STATA or similar software packages and willingness to learn new ones.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and networking skills.
  • Ability to work independently within a team environment.
