Associate Manager - Risk Management

Location : Head Office - Colombo

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented professional to join our Risk Management Department as an Associate Manager – Risk Management. The selected candidate will play deputy role to assist the Risk Officer in managing the full spectrum of the company’s risk functions, with a focus on credit risk, market risk, operational risk, and business continuity planning (BCP), while supporting Board Integrated Risk Management Committee (BIRMC) reporting and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibility

  • Support the Risk Officer in implementing the organization’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework across all departments.
  • Conduct credit risk assessments and contribute to portfolio monitoring, concentration analysis, and credit risk reporting.
  • Assist in market risk monitoring, including interest rate and liquidity risk, and support ALCO-related risk analysis.
  • Manage and continuously improve the Operational Risk Management Framework, including incident tracking and root cause analysis.
  • Coordinate the Business Continuity Planning (BCP) process, including periodic testing and updates.
  • Assist in compiling and presenting comprehensive risk reports to the Board Integrated Risk Management Committee (BIRMC).
  • Conduct of Stress Testing.
  • Ensure compliance with CBSL directives, risk-related regulations, and internal policies.
  • Prepare analytical reports and presentations on key risk exposures and trends.
  • Collaborate with business units to promote a strong risk culture and enhance risk awareness across the organization.

Candidate Profile

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field from a recognized university.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in risk management in the banking or finance sector.
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk, market risk, and operational risk management principles.
  • Experience in risk reporting to senior management and BIRMC.
  • Familiarity with CBSL regulatory framework and risk guidelines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis/reporting tools.
  • Strong communication skills with experience in professional report writing and presenting to stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work independently under pressure.
