We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Mechanical Engineer to join our Ready-Mix Concrete team in Colombo.

Job Role

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and repair of pump cars, heavy vehicles, construction machinery, and batching plants located at the RMC Plants, as well as those assigned to the Central Vehicle Yard and Workshop. This role involves planning and executing preventive maintenance schedules, diagnosing mechanical faults, minimizing equipment downtime, and ensuring all machinery complies with operational and safety standards. The selected candidate will also provide technical leadership to workshop staff and support ongoing improvements in equipment reliability and performance.

The right candidates should possess:

  • BSc/NDT in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institute
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in heavy vehicle and construction machinery repair and maintenance
  • Prior experience in maintaining concrete batching plants and pump cars will be an advantage
  • Strong understanding of automotive systems and mechanical components
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and modern repair equipment
  • Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Age below 45 years

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of concrete batching plants, heavy vehicles, and construction machinery
  • Handle installation and dismantling of batching plants as required
  • Installation and dismantling of batching plants, as and when required
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective repair methods
  • Supervise workshop staff and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards
  • Coordinate with plant managers and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and inventory
