System Administrator
IT Department
We are seeking a proactive, results-driven professional as a System Administrator with a deep command of UNIX, Linux, and Windows Server environments, coupled with a sharp eye for system integrity, performance, and innovation. In this role, the person will drive the design, optimize, and administer the bank server, storage, and VM infrastructure and will be involved in strategic IT initiatives, implementing robust governance and security standards, and will also play a key part in disaster recovery planning and high-availability solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced architectural tasks including the optimization, implementation, configuration, management, administration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and monitoring of the bank’s server, storage, and virtual machine (VM) infrastructure.
- Establish and implement IT policies, governance, standards, and security measures. Make independent decisions regarding the procurement of technical solutions within your area of expertise.
- Create and publish documentation, perform maintenance procedures, and ensure that all installations adhere to vendor specifications and IT standards/governance.
- Assist in the planning, design, procurement, and delivery of server software and hardware purchases.
- Demonstrate expertise in UNIX, Linux, and Windows Server administration, including configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing, including developing fault tolerance strategies and maintaining detailed disaster recovery plans.
- Communicate and interface with members of the IT department, vendors, users and train staff to provide support to end users.
- Maintain backups of systems to ensure high availability.
- Perform updates, upgrades, and patching of system hosts, as well as hardening operating systems in accordance with the bank’s standards.
- Maintain and update documentation related to systems as required.
Candidate Prerequisites:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field from an acceptable institution.
- Certifications in Linux (RHCE, LPIC), Windows (Microsoft Certified Windows Server Administrator), or UNIX (Solaris Certified Professional) would be a definite advantage.
- A minimum of 05 years of work experience in System Administration, with expertise in managing UNIX, Linux, cloud platforms (AWS and Azure), visualization technologies (LDOM, LPAR, VMware, and Hyper-V) and Windows environments.
- Experience in leading infrastructure projects and mentoring junior administrators with a proven track record in advanced troubleshooting and performance tuning.
- Possess strong knowledge of shell scripting and automation tools (such as Bash, Python, and PowerShell) to streamline system operations.
- Familiarity with patch management tools (Endpoint Central) to ensure consistent system deployment and management.
- Proficiency in cloud platforms and virtualization technologies.
- Experience with microservice architecture, as well as application deployment and maintenance.
- Should be a team player with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
