Vacancy - Plasticcycle Intern

Plasticcycle is a Social Entrepreneurship project of the John Keells Group launched in 2017 aimed at reducing plastic pollution, by encouraging reduction in the use of single-use plastics, supporting responsible disposal, and promoting recycling initiatives.
Description of Role
We are looking for an individual for a 3-month full-time internship, to support the operations and branding activities of Plasticcycle. As the role requires the individual to meet with our diverse stakeholder groups in the industry such as policymakers, influencers, corporates, and the public, the ideal candidate should possess excellent verbal and written communications skills, be able to multitask, take the initiative to work independently when needed and deliver assigned tasks meeting set deadlines.
This is an agile role, which includes workdays at the corporate office, working from home, or working in the field.
General responsibilities include:
- Assist operations in gathering data from corporate and industry partners.
- Visit partners’ locations (independently or with the team) and assist in awareness sessions, branding, and communications activities.
- Creating and editing videos for social media.
- Develop flyers for the internal requirements of Plasticcycle.
- Supporting with record keeping and archiving.
- Support with logistics and coordination of Plasticcycle events.
Person Specifications
- Post-Advanced Levels school leaver or undergraduate in any field (experience in environmental conservation clubs and societies will be an advantage).
- Proficiency in Sinhala and English written and verbal communication skills (Tamil language skills would be an advantage).
- Knowledge of creative design (Canva, Photoshop, Premiere Pro) and social media.
- Interest in current trends and news relating to protecting the planet and sustainability.
