POSITION DETAILS

  • POSITION TITLE: Executive/Senior Executive Finance (Sri Lanka)
  • LOCATION: Colombo, Western Province, Sri Lanka (On-site)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive, review, verify and process supplier invoices and payment requests.
  • Match invoices with purchase orders (POs) and goods received notes (GRNs).
  • Process and post invoices into the accounting system.
  • Prepare and process electronic payments and bank transfers.
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and supplier statements.
  • Handle queries from suppliers and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor records.
  • Assist in month-end closing processes, including accruals and aging reports.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations (e.g., VAT/WHT).
  • Support internal and external audits with documentation and analysis.
  • Generate and issue sales invoices accurately and on time.
  • Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
  • Follow up with clients via calls/emails regarding overdue invoices.
  • Maintain accurate records of all receivables and collections.
  • Apply incoming payments (bank transfers, LC etc.) to customer accounts in the accounting system.
  • Reconcile AR ledger with the general ledger and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare monthly AR aging reports and provide analysis to management.
  • Handle customer queries, disputes, and adjustments professionally.
  • Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to resolve billing issues.
  • Comply with company policies and relevant local tax regulations (e.g., VAT).
  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns (e.g., VAT, WHT, PAYE/APIT, and Income Tax).
  • Ensure all tax payments are made on time to avoid penalties and interest.
  • Maintain proper documentation and schedules for input/output VAT including SVAT.
  • Assist in responding to Inland Revenue Department (IRD) queries, notices, and audits.
  • Support tax computations for provisions, deferred tax, and year-end financial statements.
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants when needed.
  • Monitor changes in Sri Lanka’s tax legislation and assess the impact on the business.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Education and Required Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field, or part qualification in CA, CIMA or ACCA.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of proven experience in a similar role.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong understanding of receivables/Payables processes and accounting principles.
  • Solid skills in MS Excel and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in accounting/ERP systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
