Position: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Organization: Child Development Fund (CDF) – Trincomalee

Duty Station: Trincomalee, Sri Lanka

Reports To: Board of Directors / Chairperson

Organizational Background

Child Development Fund (CDF) is a community-focused non-governmental organization committed to promoting child wellbeing, education, community empowerment, social inclusion, livelihood development, and humanitarian response initiatives in Sri Lanka. CDF works closely with children, families, communities, government institutions, donors, and development partners to improve the lives of vulnerable populations through sustainable and rights-based interventions.

Position Summary

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will provide strategic, operational, and programmatic leadership to Child Development Fund. The CEO is responsible for ensuring effective organizational management, quality program implementation, donor compliance, financial accountability, resource mobilization, partnership development, and institutional growth. The CEO will lead the organization in alignment with its vision, mission, strategic priorities, and governance framework while promoting transparency, safeguarding, accountability, and sustainable development.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in NGO or development sector management, including senior leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in program management, donor engagement, grants management, and organizational leadership.
  • Strong understanding of child-focused and community development programming.
  • Experience in financial oversight, compliance, and team management.
  • Strong networking, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent report writing and proposal development skills.
  • Fluency in English and Tamil is highly desirable; Sinhala is an added advantage.
