General Manager – Operation (Concord Manufacturing (Private) Limited, Thambuttegama)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and overall direction for factory operations to achieve organizational goals and business targets.
- Oversee end-to-end manufacturing operations including production, production planning, quality assurance, industrial engineering (IE), product development, merchandising, technical operations, CAD/CAM, and other related operational functions to ensure efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and profitability.
- Ensure effective production planning and capacity management to meet customer delivery schedules and operational KPIs.
- Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives and cost optimization programs.
- Monitor factory performance through key operational metrics including efficiency, utilization, wastage, quality performance, and on-time delivery.
- Ensure full compliance with labor laws, buyer compliance requirements, health & safety regulations, and company policies.
- Lead, mentor, and develop departmental heads and cross-functional teams to build a high-performance culture.
- Collaborate closely with merchandising, supply chain, finance, HR, and technical teams to ensure smooth execution of business operations.
- Oversee preventive maintenance systems to ensure machinery and factory infrastructure are maintained at optimal operational standards.
- Identify business risks and operational challenges proactively and implement effective corrective actions.
- Prepare and present operational reports, strategic plans, and performance updates to senior management and directors.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the apparel manufacturing industry with at least 5 years in a senior managerial or leadership role.
- A Degree or Professional Qualification in Engineering, Apparel Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of garment manufacturing operations, industrial engineering, compliance standards, and production systems.
- Proven leadership capability in managing large-scale manufacturing operations and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent understanding of operational planning, budgeting, cost control, productivity improvement, and capacity management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
- Fluent in English and Sinhala (spoken and written) is essential.
