The Job

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes, including:
    • Reviewing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
    • Managing monthly prepayments and accruals
    • Recording payroll accruals, including leave entitlement
  • Monitor and analyze monthly overhead variances and cost allocations (e.g., rent, insurance, depreciation), and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and external obligations, including BAS, deferred GST on imports, FBT, transfer pricing, and PAYG.
  • Prepare and finalize tax workpapers, including reconciliation between accounting and taxable profit, with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Maintain and update fixed asset registers, ensuring accurate useful lives and depreciation rates.
  • Process accounting entries related to asset acquisitions and disposals.
  • Support audit readiness by preparing required documentation and responding to audit queries.
  • Provide ongoing support to the senior finance team as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Full or part-qualification in CA or CPA.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in a senior-level role, with hands-on exposure to Australian clients.
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards and tax compliance, with hands-on experience in year-end processes and the practical application of accounting principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and detail-oriented approach to financial management.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing year-end financial close processes, statutory reporting, and audit preparation.
  • Solid knowledge of Australian taxation compliance, including BAS, GST, PAYG, FBT, and related reporting, is preferred.
