We’re Hiring: Accounts Executive - Tax
As the largest exporter of Cinnamon from Sri Lanka, Samagi Spice Exports (Pvt) Ltd stands as a trailblazer in the spice industry with a legacy of over 60 years. With continuous growth and expansion on the horizon, we are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our dynamic finance team in the capacity of Accounts Executive.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and file monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns (VAT, Income Tax, ESC, WHT, NBT, etc. as applicable).
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws, regulations, and filing deadlines.
- Maintain proper documentation of tax records, schedules, and working papers.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities.
- Support in tax audits, assessments, and responding to queries from tax authorities.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess the impact on the business.
- Assist in tax planning initiatives to minimize tax liabilities within legal frameworks.
- Reconcile tax-related accounts and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Provide guidance to internal departments on tax-related matters (e.g., invoicing, contracts, cross-border transactions).
- Support finance team in month-end and year-end closing activities related to tax provisions.
Candidate Profile:
- A bachelor’s degree in Accountancy / Management from a recognized university or a part qualification from CA/CIMA/CMA.
- Well versed in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) & strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in taxation, finance, or audit (preferably in a reputed audit/tax firm or corporate sector).
- Strong knowledge of local tax laws and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and accounting/ERP systems.
- Display the ability to thrive under pressure and flexibility to work extended hours when required.
- Preference will be given to candidates residing in or near Akuressa (Matara District).
