Accounts Executive
We are looking for an Accounts Executive to join our team immediately for a 1-year fixed-term contract.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full cycle of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), ensuring all invoices and receipts are processed accurately.
- Post daily journal entries, maintain the chart of accounts, and perform regular bank and petty cash reconciliations.
- Assist the Chief Accountant in month-end closing activities, ensuring all local expenses are captured and accruals are recorded.
- Assist in maintaining the Fixed Asset register and calculating monthly depreciation.
- Prepare monthly/quarterly Value Added Tax (VAT) and Social Security Contribution Levy (SSCL) working papers.
- Review and documentation for Withholding Tax (WHT) / Advance Income Tax (AIT) on payments to vendors and service providers.
- Assist in timely filing of returns through Inland Revenue Department (IRD) portal and ensure tax payments are made before deadlines.
- Maintain organized files for all tax-related documents to support future tax audits or finalisations.
- Adhere to internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure data reliability.
- Provide necessary documentation and schedules for external auditors during the annual statutory audit process.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure payroll-related expenses and statutory contributions (EPF/ETF) are accurately reflected in the accounts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or part qualification in ICASL, ACCA, or CIMA.
- 1-3 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role within a professional office environment. Supervision
- High proficiency in MS Excel is essential.
- Accounting Principles: Solid understanding of basic accounting concepts (Double-entry, Accruals, and Local Accounting Standards).
- ERP Literacy: Experience using accounting software/ERP systems.
- Sri Lankan Tax Framework: Working knowledge of VAT, SSCL, CIT, and WHT regulations.
- Experience with the RAMIS (IRD) online filing system.
- Familiarity with IFRS principles for group reporting purposes.
