ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN

Scope of the Role

The Electrical Technician will be responsible for executing electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance and reliability of plant equipment. The role focuses on maintaining equipment within required quality, safety, and time standards while supporting smooth plant operations. The position requires close coordination with supervisors and operations teams, adherence to safety procedures, and continuous improvement in maintenance practices and technical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Execute electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities in line with approved work orders and established procedures.
  • Diagnose faults, perform troubleshooting, and carry out timely repairs to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.
  • Respond effectively to both planned and unplanned maintenance requirements, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Conduct regular inspections of electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Utilize appropriate tools, materials, and safety practices to deliver high-quality maintenance work.
  • Collaborate closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure smooth and efficient task execution.
  • Provide accurate and timely feedback on completed work, ensuring proper documentation of maintenance activities.
  • Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards and company policies at all times.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by adopting new technologies and best practices in maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in line with good housekeeping practices.
  • Support the preparation and implementation of safety procedures such as Job Safety Analysis (JSA), isolation, and permit systems.

Requirements

  • A National Certificate or NVQ Level 4 qualification in Electrical & Electronics or an equivalent qualification, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in electrical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment being an added advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of electrical installations, control systems, and instrumentation practices.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults effectively, with experience in repairs and maintenance of equipment.
  • Basic understanding of industrial automation, PLC systems, and VFD maintenance will be considered an advantage.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
