SENIOR GARMENT TECHNOLOGIST

Dialtex, with over 45 years of heritage, specializes in designing, developing, and manufacturing men's and women's wear for international brands.

Role Description

  • This is a full-time on-site role as a Senior Garment Technologist located in Katunayake.

Responsibilities

  • Review design packs to provide technical feedback and identify potential production challenges with a new style or concept.
  • Leading fit sessions, analyzing fit issues, and working with pattern-making teams to achieve consistent and accurate fit across the garment range.
  • Communicating technical requirements to PD and CAD team and ensuring adherence to quality and technical standards through Product Development process.
  • Coordinate and oversee the development of various samples, including proto, fit, and pre-production samples.
  • Oversee the pattern-making process and manage pattern grading to ensure accurate sizing across the entire range.
  • Conduct fit sessions to evaluate the garment's performance, fit, and aesthetic, providing feedback and amending patterns as necessary.
  • Working with design, product development, IE and manufacturing teams to ensure a smooth process from concept to commercialization; apply and follow production methods to optimize cost through the effective SMVs.
  • Coordinate with IE and Manufacturing team to utilize best construction methods of automation depending on availability in the organization.
  • Coordinate and conduct embellishment durability testing or due diligence as necessary.
  • Review proto, fit and other samples prior to dispatch to the Customer and ensure that all sending samples meet customer requirements and standards.
  • Perform validation processes to identify and document potential development and manufacturing risks early on (RAR).
  • Work with merchandising and sourcing teams to provide technical information for accurate cost analysis.
  • Support the transfer of developed styles to the production department, ensuring all technical details are clearly communicated.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Degree holder (academic qualifications).
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in a similar capacity.
  • Be an effective team player.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimum supervision.
  • Experience in handling UK/European customers' technical teams will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of woven textile materials, constructions, and production processes.
  • Comprehensive understanding of woven fabric wash processes.
  • Practical knowledge of pattern making will be an added advantage.
