Development of Sustainable Packaging Innovations for the Tea and Plantation Sector Under the Partnerships and Innovative Financing to Mainstream Biodiversity and Sustainable Land Management in the Wet Zone of Sri Lanka Project
The project seeks to integrate biodiversity conservation and sustainable land management into Sri Lanka's wet zone plantation sector, particularly tea and rubber landscapes. The initiative promotes innovative business models and private-sector partnerships to conserve high biodiversity value ecosystems while enhancing productivity and sustainability.
As part of its innovative financing and value addition strategy, the project is exploring eco-friendly, plant-based packaging solutions, including materials derived from Areca palm and invasive alien species (IAS).
Janathakshan invites proposals from qualified consultants, firms, research institutions, and innovation specialists to design and develop sustainable, plant-based packaging solutions for the tea and plantation sector.
To assess, design, and develop innovative packaging solutions using environmentally friendly materials, including Areca palm leaves and suitable invasive alien species (IAS), with a focus on value-added and artisanal tea products.
