ASSISTANT ENGINEER (DESIGN & ESTIMATION)
JOB DESCRIPTION
Design & Estimation will be responsible for preparing accurate electrical designs, layouts, and cost estimates for various projects. The role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, AutoCAD drafting, and estimation techniques. You will work closely with clients, consultants, and internal teams to understand requirements, develop technical solutions, and prepare competitive quotations. The position involves site visits, technical meetings, and coordination with project teams to ensure timely and quality deliverables. Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and effective communication are essential to succeed in this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify customer requirements and understand project specifications.
- Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates and quotations.
- Design electrical systems and prepare shop drawings using the relevant software.
- Prepare BOQs (Bill of Quantities) and material take-offs for projects.
- Participate in meetings and site visits with clients/consultants to gather necessary information.
- Coordinate with internal teams (Projects, Procurement, Accounts) for smooth execution of projects.
- Update and maintain the quotation summary registry and documentation.
- Ensure timely submission of designs, estimates and related documents.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma or degree in electrical engineering (NCT/HNDE/DTI/TTI/BSc Eng).
- 1-3 years of experience in design and estimation in the electrical engineering field will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD. Knowledge of Dialux, ETAP, or other electrical design software is an advantage.
- Good understanding of electrical systems, materials, and costing.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
