2ND COMMIS CHEF

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking 2nd Commis Chef to support our kitchen team in preparing high-quality food and maintaining excellent kitchen standards. The ideal candidate should have basic culinary knowledge, a passion for food preparation, and the willingness to grow within a professional kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the 1st Commis Chef, Chef de Partie, and senior kitchen staff in food preparation and cooking activities.
  • Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, and measuring according to recipes and kitchen requirements.
  • Support the preparation of menu items while maintaining consistency and quality standards.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of workstations, kitchen equipment, and storage areas.
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures at all times.
  • Assist in receiving, checking, and storing food deliveries appropriately.
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items according to food safety standards.
  • Help monitor stock levels and inform supervisors of any shortages or requirements.
  • Minimize food wastage and maintain efficient use of ingredients and kitchen resources.
  • Support kitchen operations during busy service periods and special events.
  • Follow instructions from senior chefs and contribute to smooth daily kitchen operations.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen and service staff to ensure excellent customer satisfaction.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous experience in a hotel, restaurant, cafe, or commercial kitchen environment is preferred.
  • Certificate or training in Professional Cookery, Culinary Arts, or Hospitality Management will be an added advantage.
  • Basic understanding of food preparation methods and kitchen operations.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to professional growth.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to maintaining food quality standards.
  • Candidates should be between 20 and 28 years of age.
