WECare Worldwide is a UK and Sri Lankan charity dedicated to providing top-quality veterinary care for street dogs. We're looking for a compassionate and skilled Senior Accountant to join our team and help us make a real difference.

The Role

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the full financial management and reporting of WECare Worldwide's Sri Lanka Operations. This includes maintaining and preparing the accounts of the hospital, CNVR programme, and Mutts operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and financial transparency. This is a senior level position requiring an independent, self-motivated professional who can work with minimal supervision, manage pressure effectively, and ensure that all financial processes meet both internal standards and local financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records for WECare Sri Lanka operations, including the hospital, CNVR programme, and Mutts Café.
  • Process and record financial transactions, ensuring proper documentation and accurate bookkeeping.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and management accounts for the Head of Finance.
  • Monitor income, expenditure, and cash flow, ensuring transactions are recorded correctly.
  • Assist with tax filings and ensure compliance with Sri Lankan financial regulations and statutory requirements.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Fluent in Sinhala and English.
  • Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CA, CIMA, or equivalent preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience in accounting or finance, ideally within a busy operational organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan financial regulations, payroll administration, and statutory compliance.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Comfortable working with financial systems and MS Excel.
  • Adaptable and a strong team player.
  • Self-motivated and passionate about animal welfare and WECare's mission.
