Job Description

Intern

Reports to: Team Lead | Based: Batticaloa Town, Sri Lanka — fully onsite | Type: Internship, onsite (with potential to grow into a permanent role)

Recruiting on behalf of the client: Thevaki Resourcing (part of Thevaki Industries)

About the client you’ll be working for

You will be working on behalf of an innovative UK-based strategy and technology company built on one idea: return to first principles. Their philosophy is human-first and privacy-centric — putting people, not data, at the centre of everything they build.

The client works at the meeting point of strategy and technology, with deep roots in value-based healthcare, health economics, and market access for the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector. They are now venturing into AI-driven drug discovery, and expanding into wider sectors such as infrastructure and beyond.

At the heart of their work sits a multimodal AI platform — able to read documents, understand audio, and speak, and evolving toward visual and sentiment understanding — built on a proprietary framework designed to be human-first, transparent, and decentralised, running entirely within the client’s own infrastructure with no data sharing.

Their way of working is built on a willingness to unlearn conventional assumptions, think fresh from first principles, and leave no gap behind. As part of the Batticaloa team, you will help bring this vision to life.

About Thevaki Resourcing

This role is being recruited by Thevaki Resourcing, part of Thevaki Industries (Pvt) Ltd, acting as the recruitment agency for this project. Thevaki Resourcing manages the sourcing, screening, and selection process on behalf of the client, and will be your point of contact throughout the recruitment process.

About the role

We are looking for a curious, motivated Intern to join the Batticaloa team and learn by doing. This is a hands-on internship: you will work alongside the team on real products and tools, take on tasks that stretch you, and pick up new skills quickly. You will be given genuine work and real support — not coffee runs.

You do not need years of experience or a particular background. What matters is your willingness to learn, try, research, and build, and the way you think about problems. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their journey who wants to grow fast in a company doing genuinely new things.

This is an onsite role. You will be based at our office in Batticaloa Town and work from there with the team during normal working hours. It is not a remote or work-from-home position, so please only apply if you are able to work onsite in Batticaloa.

What you’ll do

  • Get hands-on — help build and test products and tools alongside the team.
  • Research & explore — look into new ideas, tools, and approaches, and share what you find.
  • Support delivery — pitch in on day-to-day tasks that keep work moving and learn how things get done end to end.
  • Learn the AI way of working — get comfortable using AI tools to work faster and smarter.
  • Solve problems — bring fresh thinking and a willingness to figure things out.
  • Document & organise — help keep work clear, tidy, and easy for others to pick up.

What we’re looking for

  • A genuine eagerness to learn and try new things, even when they’re unfamiliar.
  • A curious, problem-solving mindset — you like figuring out how things work and how to make them better.
  • Willingness to be hands-on — happy to roll up your sleeves and have a go.
  • Comfortable with, or excited to learn, AI and digital tools.
  • Reliable, organised, and able to follow through on what you take on.
  • Able to work onsite in Batticaloa Town, five days a week.
  • Good communication in English, written and spoken, and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Open to all backgrounds — students, recent graduates, or self-taught learners from engineering, science, creative, commercial, or any other path are welcome. We care about mindset, not labels.

Nice to have

  • Software development knowledge will be advantageous — any coding or development experience (for example Python, JavaScript, web or mobile apps, databases, or scripts, whether from your degree, personal projects, or self-taught learning. You do not need to be a developer, but an understanding of how software is built will help you get up to speed quickly.
  • A good university degree (in progress or completed) in engineering, science, software, IT, or another discipline with strong systems thinking — we value the mindset over the label.
  • Any hands-on experience building, making, coding, designing, or researching — in any field.
  • Interest in AI, technology, or how things can be done more efficiently.
  • Exposure to pharma, health economics, infrastructure, or other sectors — helpful but not required.

Why join

  • Learn fast — real work, real mentorship, and the chance to grow quickly.
  • Be hands-on — build and create from day one, not just observe.
  • Be part of something new — a company where AI, first principles, and a human-first philosophy change how work gets done.
  • A path forward — strong interns may be offered a permanent role as we grow.
