Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager – Taxation to lead and manage the organization’s taxation function within the FMCG industry. The role will be responsible for developing tax strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing tax risks, and providing strategic financial guidance to support business growth.

The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Sri Lankan taxation, VAT, customs, statutory reporting, tax audits, and tax provisioning, with extensive experience in FMCG/manufacturing, agribusiness, or trading environments. The candidate should have the ability to manage complex tax matters, support commercial decisions, and ensure compliance with local and international tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective tax strategies aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage corporate tax compliance, VAT, customs duties, and other statutory tax obligations.
  • Oversee tax planning, tax provisioning, and tax risk management activities.
  • Lead tax audits and coordinate with tax authorities, external auditors, and professional advisors.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of tax computations, returns, and statutory reports.
  • Provide tax advisory support for business transactions, investments, and commercial decisions.
  • Monitor changes in Sri Lankan tax laws and evaluate their impact on business operations.
  • Manage international trade tax and tariff-related matters, including cross-border transactions.
  • Support finance functions including consolidation, treasury, and commercial finance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with taxation requirements across regional markets where applicable.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the taxation team to achieve operational excellence.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification in CA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent accounting qualification is mandatory.
  • CA qualification with strong taxation exposure is highly preferred.
  • An MBA with a professional accounting qualification will be considered an added advantage.
  • Additional certifications or qualifications in Taxation, Risk Management, or Finance will be advantageous.
  • Minimum 8–12+ years of post-qualification finance experience with exposure to taxation, consolidation, treasury, and commercial finance functions.
  • Proven experience in FMCG, manufacturing, agribusiness, or trading industries is mandatory.
  • Strong practical experience in Sri Lankan taxation, VAT, customs, statutory reporting, tax audits, and tax provisioning.
  • Exposure to international trade tax and tariff-related matters is preferred.
  • Familiarity with tax regimes in MENA, South Asia, and Southeast Asia will be an added advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan taxation laws, VAT, customs regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Expertise in tax planning, tax compliance, tax audits, and tax provisioning.
  • Understanding of international trade taxation and tariff-related matters.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations in MENA, South Asia, and Southeast Asia is advantageous.
  • Strong financial reporting, consolidation, and commercial finance knowledge.
  • Experience in FMCG/manufacturing industry finance operations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.

Experience Requirement:

  • Minimum 8–12+ years of post-qualification finance experience.
  • Proven experience in taxation, finance, or related leadership roles.
  • Mandatory exposure to FMCG/manufacturing industries.
