Interior Designer

We are seeking an experienced and creative Interior Designer to join our team in a full-time, onsite role. The successful candidate will lead interior design projects from concept through to completion, ensuring exceptional design quality, client satisfaction, and successful project delivery. This role requires a strong design vision, excellent project management skills, and the ability to mentor junior designers while collaborating with clients, consultants, suppliers, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead interior design projects from initial client consultation through design development, documentation, and project completion.
  • Meet with clients to understand their design requirements, lifestyle needs, project objectives, and budget.
  • Develop innovative design concepts, mood boards, space planning layouts, material palettes, and detailed presentations.
  • Produce and review design drawings, 3D visualizations, and technical documentation using industry-standard software.
  • Prepare project specifications, material selections, furniture schedules, and finish schedules.
  • Source and recommend suitable materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, and accessories while ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor project progress, resolve design-related issues, and maintain quality standards.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables while ensuring deadlines are achieved.
  • Prepare accurate project cost estimates, Bills of Quantities BOQs, and budgets, ensuring all materials, labour, finishes, fittings, and associated costs are comprehensively accounted for.
  • Obtain quotations, evaluate supplier and contractor proposals, and negotiate price to achieve the best value while maintaining quality and project requirements.
  • Monitor project costs throughout the project lifecycle and recommend cost-effective alternatives where necessary without compromising design intent.
  • Present design concepts and proposals confidently to clients and incorporate feedback into the final design.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers, fostering creativity and maintaining design excellence across the team.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging materials, sustainable design practices, and new technologies.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in interior design, with a proven track record of successfully delivering residential, commercial, or hospitality projects.
  • Diploma or Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and other relevant design software.
  • Strong knowledge of space planning, furniture layouts, lighting design, materials, finishes, and construction detailing.
  • Excellent understanding of local building standards and interior construction practices.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional creativity with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to prepare accurate project BOQs, cost estimates, and budgets.
  • Proven ability to analyse project costs, manage budgets, and ensure all project elements are accurately costed.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with experience dealing with suppliers, vendors, and contractors to secure competitive pricing and favourable commercial terms.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams while independently leading projects.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Degree or Diploma in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related discipline.
