Web design: Can design an entire site from scratch — structure, navigation, homepage, collection pages, product pages, landing pages, responsive/mobile layouts, typography, colour, UX/UI.
Technical: HTML/CSS and ideally some JavaScript; Shopify themes and Liquid would be a major advantage. They should be able to customize Shopify beyond installing a theme and changing text.
Design tools: Figma would be particularly valuable, plus Canva/Adobe tools.
Shopify: Products, collections, navigation, apps, theme customization, banners, promotions, basic SEO and troubleshooting.
Content: Smartphone product photography and videography, tripod/light-box/lighting setup, Reels/TikTok/Facebook content.
Editing: CapCut/VN/InShot or Premiere Pro/DaVinci Resolve.
Aesthetic ability: This is especially important for jewellery. I'd prioritize someone's actual portfolio over qualifications.
Social media: Understands current formats/trends and can turn a product into attractive short-form content.
