About Me

My name is Madurawala Don Miraj Piumal and I graduated from University of Moratuwa as a BSc Mechanical engineer specialised in mechatronics. As an undergraduate I have done and been involved in many projects and as the final year project, an underwater infrastructure inspection robot was designed successfully. I’ve been working with Signature Distilleries Lanka Pvt Ltd for the last 1 and half years as the head of maintenance Engineering department. Since the company is a newly started one, I became the Maintenance Engineer of the factory and installed and commissioned the Bottling line to the factory. Some of my key responsibilities are to train the machine operators, manage and guide routine inspections and maintenance, overlook the production line while production and ensure the line run smoothly.

In my free time, I have done many projects such as designing a rail inspection robot which is capable of identify surface cracks of a rails using image processing and send location data to the cloud. Designing of a waist sorting robot for bottle sorting using image processing to classify the bottles using the size and colour. Designing of an eye tracking system for mouse pointer movement using image processing to track the eye and move and click the mouse accordingly. Designing of a stirling engine for power generation and the CAD modelling, CFD and stress simulations were done for the past 2 years. Addition to my academic related works, I’m working as a part time music producer and a graphic designer as a hobby. I’m a Piano and a guitar player and I use my skills for entertainment. I recently started a YouTube channel As Well and I have mentioned it in the CV As Well if you are interested about my extracurricular activities.
