SCHOLARSHIP COORDINATOR

NATIONAL OFFICE - PILIYANDALA

The Scholarship Coordinator is required to coordinate an international scholarship program for very exceptional young people from SOS Programmes in Sri Lanka. This programme offers the opportunity for young people to continue their higher studies with a full scholarship. The scholarship is offered as a set amount of money given to a student to help pay for a student’s education based on requirements defined by the entity overseeing the scholarship program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and finalize the list of prospective candidates for the Scholarship Programme.
  • Based on the identified candidates and academic programs submit annual budgets to the donors and ensure written agreements for funding both planned and ad hoc are carried out.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is issued to the candidates for the Scholarship Programme.
  • Be responsible for budget utilization and ensure that fund transfers and payments are carried out according to relevant organizational procedures.
  • Compile reports and attend periodic progress meetings.
  • Mentor the selected candidates throughout their higher studies.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree or Diploma in Education, Business Administration, Sociology, or any other relevant discipline. Candidates with postgraduate qualifications are highly desired.
  • 2-3 years of work experience in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and multitasking is required.
  • Candidates should be fluent in English and be able to speak Sinhala or Tamil.
  • A high degree of computer literacy is essential.
  • Candidates with a passion for working with children without parental care or with children who are at risk of losing parental care will be given preference.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • The selected candidate will be based at the National Office in Piliyandala and will be required to travel to Projects.
