VACANCY FOR THE POST OF TECHNICAL MANAGER- GARMENT MANUFACTURING
Location: Pallekele, Kandy
Miami Exports (Pvt) Ltd is a leading manufacturer and exporter of high-quality children's apparel serving internationally recognized retail brands. We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on, and highly experienced Technical Manager to lead the technical function of our newborn and children's wear manufacturing operation in Pallekele.
This role requires a technically strong professional who can actively engage on the production floor, drive excellence from style initiation to bulk production, and ensure products are manufactured in accordance with customer specifications, comply to workmanship standards, safety requirements, and productivity targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all technical activities related to style start-up, Risk analysis , Line feeding, Pilot runs, and Bulk production.
- Ensure smooth style implementation through effective pre-production planning and technical risk assessment.
- Drive first-time-right production by identifying and eliminating potential technical and quality issues at source.
- Provide technical guidance to production teams, sewing operators, supervisors, and quality personnel.
- Establish and maintain sewing methods, operation standards, and workmanship requirements for newborn and children's wear products.
- Conduct machine, method, and operator assessments to identify root causes of defects and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Ensure achievement of first output approval targets( in accordance of 5 Zero QMS) and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with Merchandising, Product Development, Industrial Engineering, Production, and QA teams to ensure successful style execution.
- Lead operator and supervisory training programs on garment construction, sewing techniques, workmanship standards, and customer requirements.
- Drive quality improvements, efficiency enhancement projects, and waste reduction initiatives throughout the factory.
- Monitor technical performance indicators and implement action plans to achieve factory quality and delivery objectives.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should possess:
- 5-10 years of experience in garment manufacturing, including at least 3 years in a technical leadership role.
- Proven experience in handling export-oriented garment production for international customers.
- Strong expertise in newborn, infant, and children's wear garment construction and assembly methods would be an added advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of line feeding, style start-up management, first-output approval, and production troubleshooting.
- Sound understanding of sewing machinery, attachments, folders, guides, and special machine applications.
- Strong practical ability to demonstrate sewing operations and garment construction techniques on the production floor.
- In-depth knowledge of workmanship standards, customer quality requirements, and product safety expectations.
- Proven experience in root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action implementation, and quality improvement methodologies.
- Strong coaching, training, and people development skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across Production, Quality, Technical, IE, and Merchandising teams.
- Results-driven mindset with strong ownership, leadership, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Professional or academic qualifications in Garment Technology, Apparel Manufacturing, Quality Management, or a related field will be an added advantage.
- A Diploma in Clothing Technology, Apparel Manufacturing, Quality Management, or a relevant degree will be an added advantage.
