We Are Looking For Assistant Manager - Human Resources

We are seeking a dynamic, analytical, and detail-oriented HR professional to join our growing medical laboratory in Kurunegala as Assistant Manager – Human Resources. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in HR operations, payroll review and control, HR analytics, employee relations, and performance management, together with the ability to work closely with management and provide data-driven HR insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure the accuracy and timely completion of monthly payroll, working closely with the Payroll Officer.
  • Review payroll inputs including attendance, overtime, leave, allowances, deductions, and other employee-related data.
  • Analyse HR and payroll data and prepare reports to support management decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure proper HR documentation.
  • Support recruitment, selection, onboarding, and employee confirmation processes.
  • Assist in performance management, training, staff development, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Handle employee relations matters and provide guidance on HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, labour laws, EPF/ETF, and other statutory requirements.
  • Work closely with department heads and management on staffing and people-related matters.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems, reporting, and workforce efficiency.
  • Prepare HR reports and provide insights on headcount, turnover, absenteeism, attendance, overtime, and other workforce trends.

Requirements

  • A Degree or professional qualification in Human Resources Management, Business Management or a related field.
  • A completed or currently pursuing Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management, or a related field, or a completed or currently pursuing Chartered Qualification in Human Resource Management (CCHRM), will be an added advantage.
  • 6-8 years of experience in a similar managerial HR position will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll review and reconciliation, attendance management, leave administration, overtime, EPF/ETF, and applicable statutory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to analyse HR data, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights to support management decision-making.
  • Excellent MS Excel skills, with proven experience in preparing HR reports, data analysis, and management reports.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, organisational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential employee and HR information with a high level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare, medical laboratory, hospital, or similarly structured organisation will be an added advantage.
