TECHNICIAN - MECHANICAL (PUTTALAM)
Scope of the Role
The Technician - Mechanical is responsible for carrying out mechanical maintenance activities to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment. The role involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, identifying potential failures, and supporting breakdown and shutdown maintenance activities while contributing to continuous improvement and maintaining a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
- Execute mechanical maintenance activities safely and efficiently using the appropriate tools and following the work instructions provided by the supervisor through work orders.
- Diagnose and make required adjustments based on equipment condition, design parameters and safety compliances and provide feedback to the supervisor.
- Identify and report equipment abnormalities and potential failures and support timely corrective actions.
- Perform preventive, corrective, shutdown, and emergency breakdown maintenance on plant mechanical equipment.
- Coordinate and communicate with relevant plant operation team member throughout the work execution process and hand over to the supervisor with feedback.
- Complete the given tasks within minimum time duration (defined by the work order and supervisor) while adhering to the new technology, good housekeeping and quality.
- Promote and actively contribute to Health & Safety (H&S) objectives and comply with all applicable safety procedures.
Requirements
- National Certificate in Mechanical Fitting or NVQ Level 4 or NAB Craft Apprenticeship.
- Certificate in Machinist and Welding is considered an added advantage.
- An individual with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems with the ability to carry out welding work.
- Good working knowledge of tools and their applications on plant equipment.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills.
- An individual with good communication skills in Sinhala and/or Tamil, with a working knowledge of English.
- A team player with the ability to work effectively with others.
