CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER - HARISCHANDRA MILLS PLC

We are looking for a dynamic and commercially astute finance leader to join our senior leadership team as Chief Financial Officer. The ideal candidate will bring strong FMCG and manufacturing experience, with a proven track record in driving profitability, cost efficiency, cash generation and sustainable business growth.
This is an opportunity for an accomplished finance professional to play a key role in shaping the future of a respected Sri Lankan company. The Chief Financial Officer will be a strategic member of the senior leadership team, responsible for strengthening financial performance, driving profitable growth and ensuring sound financial governance across the Company.
This position would be based in Matara.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead financial strategy and planning in alignment with the Company's business objectives and long-term growth plans.
- Drive profitability and margin improvement through product, SKU, pricing, customer and channel-level financial analysis.
- Strengthen manufacturing cost efficiency by monitoring production costs, yields, wastage, productivity and factory performance.
- Manage raw-material and procurement costs, including cost trends, supplier terms and opportunities for sustainable cost optimisation.
- Optimise working capital and inventory, improving stock turnover, receivables, payables and overall cash conversion.
- Partner with Sales and Marketing on pricing, trade promotions, discounts, distribution costs and channel/customer profitability.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and performance management, providing timely financial insights and recommendations to management and the Board.
- Drive effective cash-flow and treasury management and ensure disciplined evaluation of capital expenditure and investment decisions.
- Ensure strong financial governance, controls and compliance, including financial reporting, taxation, audit, risk management and regulatory requirements.
- Strengthen finance systems, analytics and team capability, leveraging ERP and management information to support faster, data-driven business decisions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Active membership in CA/CIMA/ACCA.
- Over 15 years of post-qualifying experience of which 05 years of experience should be in a similar capacity in a manufacturing, FMCG, Consumer products or similar operationally intensive environment.
- Degree in Finance/Accounting or a related field would be an added qualification.
- A proven track record in financial planning, management reporting, cost optimisation, working capital management and business performance improvement.
- Strong knowledge of corporate governance, taxation, audit, risk management and financial controls.
- Strong commercial judgement and an understanding of the drivers of profitability in a competitive consumer market.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, integrity and the ability to develop high-performing teams.
- The maturity and strategic perspective to operate effectively in a listed-company environment.
