Position: Project Manager – KFHI (Hali Ela)
Location: Badulla
Contract Duration: The position will initially be offered on a six month contract, with the possibility of extension subject to the continuation of the project
Korea Friends of Hope International is constituted and registered as a Voluntary Social Services/ Non-Governmental Organization, at the National Secretariat for Non-Government Organizations under the Foreign Ministry Sri Lanka. The overall mission is to foster lasting change by empowering communities.
Currently, KFHI is seeking suitable individuals for the following positions to carry out its work in Hali-Ela, Badulla District Sri Lanka. Major Responsibilities
- Lead the overall planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the new project in accordance with KFHI policies, project objectives, donor requirements, and approved work plans.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the local context, including community needs, government priorities, existing services, and development plans, ensuring meaningful participation of children, youth, families, and vulnerable groups.
- Lead community mobilization and support the establishment, strengthening, and effective functioning of community groups and key stakeholders to promote sustainable improvements in child well-being.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with government authorities, community leaders, local organizations, partners, schools, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate effective project implementation and coordination.
- Lead project team members and provide guidance, supervision, coaching, and capacity-building support to ensure effective and high-quality project delivery.
- Develop detailed project work plans, implementation schedules, activity plans, and budgets, and ensure timely delivery of planned activities and achievement of project targets.
- Ensure effective and efficient utilization of project resources and maintain proper financial management, budget monitoring, documentation, and accountability in accordance with KFHI policies, standards, and procedures.
- Ensure programme quality through regular field monitoring, supportive supervision, data collection, analysis, and review of project progress against approved indicators and targets.
- Identify project risks, challenges, and implementation gaps and take timely corrective actions in consultation with relevant KFHI management and stakeholders.
- Ensure that project activities are implemented in accordance with safeguarding, child protection, gender, disability inclusion, environmental sustainability, and other relevant cross-cutting standards.
- Build close relationships with partner communities through regular field visits, home visits, community engagement, and participation in community activities and events.
- Ensure meaningful participation of children and youth in project planning, implementation, monitoring, and reflection, particularly those from vulnerable and marginalized groups.
- Document project progress, achievements, challenges, lessons learned, best practices, and Most Significant Change (MSC) stories and ensure timely preparation and submission of monthly, semi-annual, annual, and donor reports.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, records, databases, and monitoring information to support reporting, learning, accountability, and decision-making.
- Coordinate and facilitate project review meetings, community reflection sessions, stakeholder meetings, trainings, workshops, and other project-related events.
- Support resource mobilization and sustainability initiatives and identify opportunities to strengthen the long-term impact of the project within the target communities.
- Conduct community awareness and engagement activities related to sponsorship and support the development and implementation of new programme initiatives.
- Represent KFHI and the project in relevant coordination meetings, government forums, community events, and other stakeholder platforms as required.
- Ensure that project activities are implemented within the approved scope, timeline, quality standards, and budget, and contribute to the successful achievement of overall project outcomes.
Required Qualifications, Experience & Competencies
- At least 4 years of relevant experience in Community Development, Programme/Project Management, or Project Coordination, preferably within an international organization or INGO context.
- A Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, International Development Studies, Community Development, Development Studies, or another relevant field.
- Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated experience in capacity building and strengthening the capacity of local stakeholders, community groups, and partners.
- Previous experience working with children, youth, families, and vulnerable communities.
- Good knowledge and understanding of key areas of development work, including child protection, nutrition and health, livelihoods, resilience, advocacy, gender, environmental sustainability, disability inclusion, and child participation.
- Strong project planning, coordination, monitoring, and reporting skills.
- Excellent networking, negotiation, communication, and partnership-building skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with government authorities, community leaders, partners, and other key stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver project activities within agreed timelines and approved budgets.
- Strong interpersonal skills and well-developed written and oral communications. Skill in Sinhala or English.
- Ability to ride a motorbike and light Vehicle with a valid driving license.
- Residency in Badulla District is preferred.
