INTERN- KINSHIP CARE (Monaragala)

SOS Children's Villages Sri Lanka is seeking a motivated and compassionate team of Interns to support the implementation of our Kinship Care Programme, a family-based care approach that helps children remain within their extended family and community networks when parental care is not available. Our programme aims to strengthen family connections, preserve cultural identity, and ensure the safety and well-being of children through sustainable family care solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintaining and updating physical case files for assigned kinship care cases.
  • Coordinating monitoring and family visits and documenting outcomes of supervision and monitoring activities.
  • Collecting and reviewing bill settlement records from beneficiary families to ensure accuracy.
  • Assisting in the preparation and submission of fund requests after verifying supporting documentation.
  • Gathering evidence of children's progress achieved through the support of kinship caregivers.
  • Serving as a focal point for receiving and communicating concerns raised by children.
  • Immediately reporting any concerns related to the safety, protection, or well-being of a child to the Village Director or Head of Project.
  • Supporting case management processes, family assessments, and coordination with Child Protection Officers and other social service professionals.

Duration: 6 months (with the possibility of extension)

Qualifications and Experience

  • Undergraduates or Recent graduates, Diploma Holders in Social Work, Community Development, Child Protection, or a related field.
  • A genuine passion for working with children, families, and community-based programmes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good communication skills in Sinhala and/or Tamil and working knowledge of English.
  • Residence within reasonable proximity to the reporting office.

The selected intern will receive a monthly internship allowance of Rs. 15,000, along with the opportunity to work in a supportive learning environment within an internationally recognized child-focused organization. All interns gain access to globally recognized e-learning courses to support their professional development. Upon successful completion of the internship, the intern will be awarded a valuable service certificate.
