Job Description
PROJECT ENGINEER - A HOTEL PROJECT AT UNAWATUNA
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise daily construction activities and ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project timelines.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and project management teams.
- Prepare and verify BOQs, quantity take-offs, material estimates, and construction cost calculations.
- Monitor construction progress, measure completed work, and prepare progress reports and payment claims.
- Verify subcontractor bills, quotations, invoices, and variation claims.
- Monitor project costs, material consumption, and wastage against approved budgets.
- Coordinate material requisitions, deliveries, labour, and equipment requirements to ensure uninterrupted site operations.
- Maintain accurate site records, measurement sheets, cost reports, and project documentation.
- Identify construction issues, cost variations, and potential delays, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with site safety procedures, construction standards, and applicable regulations.
IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS:
- Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND/NDT/NCT) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying.
- Relevant experience in building construction projects; hotel or commercial construction experience will be an advantage.
- Practical knowledge of construction drawings, BOQs, quantity measurements, and cost estimation.
- Ability to coordinate construction teams and monitor project progress.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant construction measurement or estimation software.
- Strong communication, coordination, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
